The Burlington County College has earmarked over $10.4-M to build a school for culinary. The upcoming school will be located at downtown Mount Holly, a very reliable source said Monday. The construction of said culinary school will boost the campuses of Pemberton and Mount Laurel. This developed as the board of Freeholders already approved the bond ordinance for the purpose. The training center for culinary school will be the first in the country, it was learned.

Currently, the program is using Mount Laurel campus while the $4 million renovation is still ongoing at the 5,600 square-foot building in Mount Holly. Once the culinary school will be fully established it will have its wide kitchen space, demonstration area and culinary laboratory. Like any other Business School, the program is also transferable to a bachelor’s degree program with the approved agreement from Drexel University.

Robert Messina, the president of the college said the construction of culinary schools is a preparation for the increasing demand for culinary arts. Messina said in the next seven years he is expecting an 18 percent growth in the food preparation in Burlington County. The third phase of the project will be at Pemberton campus with over $5.75 million budget for the renovations. It would include classroom laboratory, lobby, parking lot, side walk and water management system. Mount Laurel campus is also set aside a total of $650,000, according to Ms Vikki Monaghan, a spokesperson for the project. She said the finalization of the project is already underway. Monaghan said with the projects now undergoing in the campuses of Burlington Country College they are also raising the capability of the school to supply the demand in the coming years. There are also reports that the school would also offer more education programs in the near future so that they can become more competitive in the future.
