Private School, Anonymous Donors Sponsors Scholarships

A private school and some other anonymous donors are sponsoring scholarships for preschool and until eight grades. This new development is also welcome by many parents who say the scholarship is a big help for their children. At least they said they can minimize cost of education and instead save some funds for the continued education of their children after the eight grade.

The Carden School of Camarillo as well as some families that are sponsoring the scholarship said the program is part of their 30th year of service to the people. Carden is a private non-religious school that already offered the same grant before according to reports reaching this site. Michelle Hatch, the school director said the activity is also their way of paying back to the community which has been patronizing their school for the last three decades. A nursing school student in the county even lauded the move of Carden to give the scholarship grants to deserving students.

It was learned that the fund totaled to as much as $30,000 and may be able to support at least 10 full and partial scholarships. Hatch said the amount of the scholarship could vary from every student who qualifies. A scholar is paid at least $7,000 tuition for the whole year period to which the students should attend schools. There will be screening committee which shall conduct research on the qualifications and financial status of the applicants. Applicants will be required to submit a 300-word essay explaining why he or she is qualified to take the scholarship.

The screening committee shall also conduct data on the financial needs of the family applying for the said scholarship program. Applicants entering fifth grade is required to write the essay while those entering 4th grade or lower can request their parents to write the essay for them. The screening committee will only accept the first 100 applicants and only those who do not live in Camarillo will qualify for the scholarship program, it was learned. Submission of the essay shall be on or before August 22 and the winners shall be announced on August 29.

Carden administrator Jay Patel said the school aims to help build the morale and academics and self respect of children so that they may become respectable citizens of the country in the future. Their potential, Patel said, must be given enough attention, developed and nurtured while they are young. In this way, they can become productive citizens of the country.
